SMRC operates four community group home programs which are licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health as Intermediate Care Facilities for people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities. These group home programs are located in Biloxi, Gautier, Poplarville, and Wiggins, which serve both men and women.
Each program offers a supervised living environment, meeting individualized needs and promoting independence in living, learning and working. Activities are designed to develop personal, educational, and social skills. The degree of supervision and support provided is contingent on each person’s identified capabilities and needs. An interdisciplinary approach is utilized to address nursing, medical, nutritional, psychological, and other therapeutic specialties.
The unique resources available within each community provide an additional opportunity for personal growth and community engagement. The people we serve shop, dine, worship, and enjoy a variety of recreational and cultural activities within their own community.
